Mekong Delta attracts Vietnam’s first accelerator for women-led agricultural enterprises tackling climate adaptation

Can Tho, Vietnam – Vietnam’s first accelerator for women-led small and medium agribusiness enterprises tackling climate adaptation in the Mekong Delta launched today at a special event in Can Tho.

Deltaccelerate provides direct support, tailored training, and networking opportunities for up to 16 enterprises to enhance their success and build the Mekong Delta’s resilience to climate adaptation.

It is made possible by a unique partnership between the Australian Government and New Energy Nexus Vietnam through the BPP Climate Adaptation Partnerships in the Mekong Delta, announced in November 2023.

Mr. Dominic Balasuriya, Economic Consul at the Australian Consulate in Vietnam, said: “Today marks an important milestone for Deltaccelerate, Vietnam’s first accelerator program for women-oriented agricultural businesses addressing the challenge of climate change adaptation in the Mekong Delta. This initiative, along with all BPP Climate Adaptation partners, demonstrates Australia’s steadfast commitment to working with Vietnam to address the challenges of climate change.”

Enterprises that work in the Mekong Delta’s agricultural sector, which are led by or significantly benefit women and contribute to the sector’s resilience to climate adaptation are invited to apply.

Up to eight enterprises that successfully complete the first stage of the program will have the opportunity to scale their business through funding between AUD10,000 to AUD100,000.

Ms. Huynh Hoang To Trinh, Program Manager at New Energy Nexus Vietnam, said: “Women are one of the groups most affected by climate change and play an important role in addressing climate challenges. I look forward to more solutions for adapting to climate change from women-oriented businesses. We encourage and look forward to more businesses registering and joining our program.”

The program begins in April 2024 and will conclude in September 2025.
