Vietnam’s climate innovators capture carbon market investors’ interest at BPP Climate Investment Networking Day

Over 100 of Vietnam’s climate innovators, impact investors and carbon market industry leaders took part in an exclusive networking opportunity designed to build a greener, more sustainable future hosted by the Australian Government in Ho Chi Minh City today.
The BPP Climate Investment Networking Day aimed to enable new collaborative opportunities that could unlock new innovation for Vietnam’s emerging carbon markets and green growth agenda. Attendees had the opportunity to gain valuable insights into the Vietnam Carbon Market regulatory environment and developments from the Government of Vietnam and industry leaders. It featured a showcase of Vietnam’s BPP partnerships and an opportunity for climate innovators working on the local Carbon Market to pitch their work to impact investors.
Ms Sarah Hooper, the Australian Consul-General in Ho Chi Minh City, opened the event. She said: “Today’s event is designed to strengthen the local climate innovation ecosystem and enable new collaborative opportunities that will unlock innovation in Vietnam’s emerging carbon markets and its green growth agenda.
“The energy in the room today was electric and I’m excited to see how the connections made today will result in a greener, more sustainable tomorrow for Vietnam and beyond.”
Through the BPP, the Australian Government has invested AUD 9.5 million in Vietnam since 2016 to support 16 private sector initiatives that have been working to tackle climate change, grow sustainable carbon markets and create better outcomes for local communities, particularly women and people with disabilities. A further AUD 14.2 million has been leveraged in in co-funding from partners.
