Vietnam’s climate adaptation innovators take centre stage at Australian Government showcase in the Mekong Delta

Over 100 of Vietnam’s climate innovators, government leaders and impact investors gathered today at Sheraton Can Tho Hotel for an Australian Government-hosted showcase celebrating climate adaptation and innovation, focused on building a more climate-resilient Mekong Delta.
Attendees at today’s Business Partnerships Platform (BPP) Climate Adaptation Showcase and Demo Day featured innovative businesses with community-led solutions to the Delta’s pressing climate challenges, while exploring new opportunities for collaboration between governments, investors and the private sector.
The program featured keynote remarks from representatives of the Australian and Vietnamese governments, presentations from the BPP partnerships, discussions on sustainable growth partnerships, and insights into Vietnam’s emerging carbon market.
At the event, Ms Sarah Hooper, Australian Consul-General in Ho Chi Minh City, remarked: “Today’s event celebrates the achievements of the BPP Climate Adaptation Partnerships and Vietnam’s climate innovation ecosystem. The partnerships and the connections strengthened here will be vital for tackling the Mekong Delta’s climate challenges. Australia is proud to work alongside Vietnam to deliver lasting and inclusive success for the region.”
The event also featured pitches from the six winning enterprises from the Deltaccelerate program, hosted by BPP partner New Energy Nexus, showcasing innovative business initiatives and models designed to strengthen climate resilience in the region.
Since 2016, the Australian Government has invested AUD9.4 million through the BPP in Vietnam, supporting 16 private-sector partnerships tackling climate change, growing sustainable carbon markets and improving livelihoods, particularly for women and people with disabilities. These partnerships have mobilised a further AUD13.6 million in co-funding from the private sector.
