BPP impact in action: Off-grid renewable energy partnerships powering opportunity across the Pacific and Timor-Leste

We’re excited to introduce the next and final chapter of the Business Partnerships Platform impact series, showcasing the incredible stories from our Off-Grid Renewable Energy Partnerships across the Pacific and Timor-Leste.
Since February 2024, 13 partnerships across Solomon Islands, Fiji, Vanuatu, Kiribati, Timor-Leste and Papua New Guinea have been delivering reliable renewable energy solutions to remote and rural communities with support from the Australian Government.
From improving access to clean energy and drinking water, to strengthening healthcare and education services, creating economic opportunities and advancing gender equality, these partnerships are demonstrating how locally led renewable energy solutions can transform communities.
Together, the partnerships have:
- Reached over 115,600 people
- Delivered more than 7,400 solar home systems
- Connected 31 communities
- Created 58 new jobs
- Supported 62 women in leadership roles
And there is so much more impact still to share!
While these partnerships are now concluding, the lessons and models they have developed are helping inform the next phase of renewable energy delivery across the Pacific and Timor-Leste.
These Off-Grid Renewable Energy Partnerships were designed to test practical solutions that could be expanded through REnew Pacific, Australia’s $75 million investment in off-grid renewable energy for remote communities across the region. REnew Pacific is part of the Pacific Climate Infrastructure Financing Partnership (PCIFP), a $350 million initiative delivered through the Australian Infrastructure Financing Facility for the Pacific (AIFFP).
Follow along in the coming weeks as we share the stories and impact from across the Off-Grid Renewable Energy Partnerships.
